Countdown Motion Pictures was formed by an alliance of media professionals from the worlds of film, television, digital content and music, whose shared vision of compelling storytelling, stunning visual imagery and strong production values led them to pool their talents and resources in order to create great entertainment.
Gavin Wood, Founder, Chairman, CEO and Executive Producer, has enjoyed a long and successful career as one of Australia’s best known television and radio personalities. He has also independently owned his own retail and artist management businesses. He brings the wealth of his expertise in media, finance and audience engagement to the operation and development of Countdown.
Adam Howard, President, COO and Executive Producer, is an award-winning visual effects supervisor with more than three decades in the feature film industry. Credited with over 150 movies, such as Birdman, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn (Part 1 and 2), The Social Network, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Rush Hour 3, Pirates of the Caribbean, Armageddon and Titanic as well as the special venue ride Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Adam was honored with four Prime Time Emmy Awards for his visual effects work on the television series Star Trek: Enterprise, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. Adam has provided on set supervision throughout international locations, generated bids on multi-million dollar productions and has forged strong relationships with directors, film studios, post production companies and visual effects facilities all over the world.
Alexandra Davies, Writer and Director, is a graduate of the University of Western Sydney (Theatre
Nepean) one of the top competitive acting schools in Australia that accepts
only 18 students each year. She graduated in 1998 with a High Distinction
average.
With her background as an actor with over 350 episodes of series TV;
(starring in 3 major Australian productions and guest starring in many
more), Alex has an extensive network of immense Australian talent from
actors and directors to all the crew behind the camera not to mention the
experience of a working set. Alex has lead several features and all up has appeared in 14 short and
feature length films. She has worked with Sam Shepherd, Jamie Foxx,
Jessica Beil, Josh Lucas, Hugh Jackman, Wil I Am, Robert Taylor and
Academy award winning Director Gavin Hood. She won best actress in
2016 for her role in Past Imperfect at the Canberra short film festival in

comedy concept RUN in 2015 which she is now developing into a full
length feature film. She has also directed many short films for acting
students at film school back in Australia. Alex is also developing her own projects as a writer/director.
Alex is set to direct her first feature film titled – Angel Baby. A
female Reservoir Dogs action flick.
David J. Holman, Senior Music Advisor, is another key component of the Countdown group. David, who owns Cactus Studio in Hollywood, is a world acclaimed record producer who has worked with artists Olivia Newton-John, Everclear, No Doubt, Third Eye Blind, Bush, Little River Band and The King Bees. He has also served as music engineer on the films Grease and Xanadu and as producer on soundtracks for Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Cocktail.
Tony McVann, Re-recording Mixer and Supervising Sound Editor. For over 30 years Tony has worked on countless award-winning and commercially successful films, documentaries and television shows. His list of clients includes top filmmakers around the world and his reputation as a leading Re-recording Mixer and Supervising Sound Editor has garnered him an impressive list of accolades, including his 2011 selection as an award candidate for the inaugural ‘Australian Academy Awards’ (AACTA) in the category of ‘Best Sound in a Documentary’ for his work on the multi award winning “The Worm Hunters”, since relocating to Los Angeles in 2013 Tony has worked numerous projects including….“American Hustle” 10-time Academy Award nominated feature film, “Hunted the War Against Gays in Russia” for HBO, “Tenured” comedy feature for Fox with a world premiere at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival, “Undercover Cupid” TV series for Nickelodeon, “Red Versus Blue” documentary for ESPN, “The Yard” TV series for Nat Geo and “LA Clippers Dance Squad” TV series for E.
Mackenzie Wood, Producer and Talent Manager. Mackenzie is a keen student of film and television and all things visual. For the last 8 years Mackenzie has been involved with Countdown Motion Pictures and is working with the team to produce quality independent movies and television properties. Mackenzie also is involved with the artist’s management arm of the company.
He is a people person and a problem solver. Mackenzie oversees the Australian division of Countdown Motion Pictures and is also involved in all areas of the company worldwide.
Gavin Wood
Gavin Wood is a well-known television and radio personality. In his native Australia, he has appeared on every television network and hosted shows on numerous AM and FM radio stations.
Gavin was the voice and guest host of ABC’s “Countdown” for seven years, drawing more than three million viewers each Sunday night. The success of the show led to Gavin’s number one breakfast show on EON FM. He hosted his own show on another ten radio stations across Australia and provided the voice, audience warm-up and live presentations for late night shows, game shows and variety specials around the country. Having one of the most “tuned-into” voices in the country, Gavin has provided the voice for scores of televison and radio commercials.
Gavin has been tapped for numerous corporate events, hosting awards ceremonies, bridal shows, PR product launches, fashion shows, press conferences, trade promotions, conferences, galas and dinners.
Prior to relocating to Hollywood Gavin was CEO of his own media company for 25 years, specializing in artist management and radio and television campaigns and launches, and also owned and operated a successful franchise restaurant for five years.
An accomplished media performer with a true understanding of audience engagement, Gavin is now focused on content development and film production for his latest venture, Countdown Motion Pictures.

Adam Howard
With a career that spans over 30 years, Adam Howard is regarded as an accomplished visual magician, supervising and creating groundbreaking visual effects, animation and design work for the motion picture and television industry in both the USA and Australia. Adam was a Senior Artist at George Lucas’ acclaimed visual effects company Industrial Light & Magic where he contributed to 17 major motion pictures. Prior to working at ILM he won four Primetime Emmy Awards and received a total of 10 Emmy Award nominations for his work on all four of the Star Trek television series.
In addition to his film and television work, Adam was Senior Visual Effects Supervisor for the state-of-the-art ride experience Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios, Orlando Florida.
Among his recent feature film and television projects Visual Effects Supervisor are Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, Birdman and the Emmy Award-winning series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.
Adam is on the founding board of directors of the Visual Effects Society and is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts.
